Will this ever decrease in price, or offer a self-guided option or a test voucher?

As the courses last over half a year (32 weeks), cost over 2.5k (roughly 650/ section), and recertification at the cost of 1k is required yearly, what is the benefit of this program compared to the expense?

Are there any course options that cost less and are more focused? Being able to jump straight to L2 support doesn't seem like a great benefit for the cost of the program.

Thanks for any insight!

Hi there,

Thanks for your questions. I am the program manager for Certified Programs, and happy to help answer!

We are currently looking at potentially reducing the cost for the 2025 calendar year. No decisions have been made at this time. However, we are currently running a discount of 10% through the end of September.

There are no plans to offer a self-guided option or a test out plan. Like all of the certified programs, one of the important components of the CCTA program is the interaction and sharing that happens with the other participants and the facilitators in the courses. There are no tests in the program, so building a test out option isn't something that is in the cards. We understand the reasoning for the question - many Canvas admins have been admins in Canvas or another LMS - however, the work in the course is related to crating a living admin plan for participant's institution. We have had a large number of experienced admins go through the program, and feedback remains the same: they found value in the work, in the interaction and learning from others, and the construction of their admin plan.

Some other information about the program that I hope is helpful:

  • The Canvas Certified Technical Admin program is three courses, each lasting six weeks, so the time to completion is 18 weeks.
  • .Participants can purchase it with the direct-to-L2 Support option. That is $2500.
    • We do not offer the ability to purchase the direct-to-L2 Support option for sale without the CCTA program. Only those who have the CCTA certification have this ability.
  • Participants can also purchase it without the direct-to-L2 Support option. That is $2000.
  • The certification lasts for 1 year. After that time, participants can decide whether or not that wish to keep it active. Recertification includes a new elective course, as well as an updates course, and a re-evaluation of the admin plan.
    • Participants who choose not to recertify do not retain access to the course content.
    • Participants who had the L2 Support option who do not recertify do not retain that ability.
    • Participants can decide to recertify at any time in the future. The CORE courses never need to be retaken.

More information about the program is available in our CCTA Frequently Asked Questions -  I hope you'll check it out if you haven't seen that yet! It includes some quotes from previous participants, along with some explanation about what makes the program unique and valuable. We wrote the program with our Support team, and it truly is designed to be an engaging and impactful learning experience, not only for the participant, but also for their institution.

As for other learning experiences, we do offer asynchronous and synchronous learning in the form of videos and webinars in the On-Demand Training Portal, if your institution has access to that.

The over 600 graduates of the CCTA program have found, and continue to find, value in their participation. Those that have the L2 access have saved hundreds of hours of precious time because of the ability to get their most urgent tickets escalated directly to an L2 Support agent.

Hope this answers all of your questions! Let me know if there is anything else!

-Erin
