Can i transfer students and their marks from one course to another?

i have 2 sections of students in a course. i would like to split them into 2 courses so i can make changes to the assessments for one section. is this possible? if so, how?

For your case, an alternative solution might be to assign individual assignments/quizzes to each section in your course to allow for different assessments for each section?
