Can't delete an assignment group

I'm revamping a Canvas course that contains a large number of old assignments (over 1,000) and need to delete them all. They're in an assignment group, and it would be much faster to delete the assignment group than to delete each individual assignment. I click the three dots next to the assignment group and select "Delete." Then, when it asks if I want to delete its assignments or move them to another group, I have "Delete its assignments" selected. I click "Delete," and the screen grays out while the dots on the screen circle for a while, then the screen comes back to its regular black text and nothing has happened.

This appears to be a glitch, possibly due to the large number of assignments. Any suggestions?

A couple of alternative options:

1. Make a new Canvas course and copy everything else to it except this assignment group.
   
   
2. Use the Canvas API to delete them iteratively: Assignments - Canvas LMS REST API Documentation
   (you can get all assignments in the group either by checking the assignment group ID of the assignment, or by calling the Assignment Group via the API: Assignment Groups - Canvas LMS REST API Documentation)

Hi @RaziZarchy , you can't unpublish or delete an assignment which has submissions, I believe.

If that isn;t the source of the problem it may be a local configuration / permissions problem ?
