My Institution has apprentices and when their results are sent to them, their boss also needs a copy to be sent for his records. Is there anyway I can add another email to the apprentices enrollment?
Thanks
Lynz

Greetings @LynzWilmsey ,
Thank you for posting on the Instructure Community!
Are you the admin of your institution's Canvas instance? If so, you or the individual that the account belongs to are able to add additional emails and contact information via their Canvas account settings.
I will provide the link to a guide below that provides more information about this topic specifically to help you.

I'm happy to help! If you're the account admin of the instance, you can easily change existing roles permissions, or even add a new role named Supervisor and enable and disable its own permissions if that makes it easier! I'll provide a guide below with more information, if that helps you out. Let me know if you need further assistance or guidance, always happy to help!

Hi There Thanks Noah - I probably wasn't clear enough - I need my apprentice's assessment results to be emailed to the student and also to his supervisor. We train butchery apprentices and their supervisor/boss needs to receive results of completion for each assessment and be able to see what the apprentice needs to do next - as he trains on-job (we handle the theory). Might enrolling their supervisor be better?
Hey @LynzWilmsey ,
Thank you for the clarification. Since it seems that you are in charge of the theory part of the course and the supervisor trains on the job, it might be a good idea to enroll the supervisor into your course just so they can see what is going on, it might make things easier on both you, the student and their supervisor.
I'm assuming that you're using canvas quizzes as part of the assessment? Are those the results you are sharing? If so, if the supervisor is observing the student in your course, and you have it enabled so the students can see their scores after a certain amount of time, or after submission, so can the supervisors (if they're observing those student's accounts).
So overall, actually enrolling the supervisor with their own account might be an excellent idea, that way it saves you time from having to manually send scores or results from Canvas to them.

Hi There again
Thanks for the quick reply.
When you say "enroll the supervisor into your course", you mean to enrol them as an Observer don'y you, NOT a teacher, right?
Thanks
Lynz
Hey Lynz! Absolutely, always happy to help.
While I did initially mean to enroll them as an observer, if you find that it would be beneficial for the supervisor of the student to be added to the course as a Teacher, TA, etc. and to have those permissions, then you are absolutely able to! This is ultimately your call, and you can do whatever you think is best for your situation. I'm just providing some general suggestions!
Teachers and TAs also have access to student grades as well, and can also edit them (if using a paid canvas account this can be controlled by a canvas admin, but usually it's always enabled for both teachers and TAs).
I hope that helps clear things up, let me know!
- Noah
Oh Yes - I forgot about the TA position!
Thank you Noah. I will read up on that as we dont want the supervisors to mark or change grades.
I am doing this by myself here at my work as there is no one else who knows Canvas like me but my knowledge is pretty light, so these forums are a great help.
We pay for Canvas as we didnt know about the free teacher option but I am down under, in New Zealand so not sure if it is free here.

Yep I am the account admin, course builder and everything else š
Awesome! I wish you the best of luck with getting everything going, and if you ever need more assistance or help, always feel welcome to come back to the Instructure Community! We're always happy to help you out.
