Can you export an umarked rubric from an assignment?
Solved! Go to Solution.
In my browser extension, if you aren't using the Enhanced Rubrics and you go to an individual Rubric and click "Edit Rubric" there will be an option to export the rubric criteria in a format that works with the import feature that I built. Import Rubric Criteria and Drag and Drop Rubric Rows When Editing
However, if you have access to use the Enhanced Rubrics feature you can download the rubrics that you select. This export format should match the import format that is available with the Enhanced Rubrics feature.
Hello @MelanieYorke,
Canvas does not natively have the ability to export rubrics.
@Code-with-Ski, does your "Canvas LMS Mods (Basic)" extension for Google Chrome help with this? I know that it has mods for rubrics but I do not see anything related to it when I look at https://github.com/Code-with-Ski/Canvas-LMS-Mods and https://code-with-ski.github.io/Canvas-LMS_Mods-Website.

Thank you, @Code-with-Ski.
I did not realize that you had to be in "edit" mode for the rubric.
@MelanieYorke, I can confirm that this works with @Code-with-Ski's extension. The link to it is provided above. The file that you download is a TSV (Tab-Separated Values) file that can be opened in Microsoft Excel or Numbers.

Which browser and browser extension are you using, @Code-with-Ski ?
Our district doesn't seem to be using Enhanced Rubrics yet, and when I'm in edit mode, I don't see any options for exporting the rubric (screenshot below).
Hi @JonBerry,
Please see my post above (screenshot below) at https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Question-Forum/Canvas-Rubrics-Export/m-p/641008/highlight/....
The extension does require Google Chrome and in my experience it also works with Microsoft Edge (because it is based on the code of Google Chrome / Chromium).
In order to use it with Microsoft Edge, you do need to allow other stores. Check out the "Add an extension to Microsoft Edge from the Chrome Web Store" section of Add, turn off, or remove extensions in Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Support.
Whether using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, I would recommend that you enable the extension itself but set its "Site Access" setting to be "On click". I do this because I do not always want the extension to be enabled but it can (and does) add other elements to the user interface that I do not always want to see/use.
Change site access permissions for extensions in Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Support
Install and manage extensions - Chrome Web Store Help
That can sometimes be tricky to manage though because you have to "refresh" the web page after temporarily activating the extension. For me, I find it to be a reasonable compromise but you might not.
