Did you log into Zoom directly to schedule the meeting, or did you use the Zoom integration link in the Canvas course menu?
The Zoom LTI Pro integration tool is designed to integrate Zoom into Canvas, If you schedule the meeting through the Canvas integration link in the course menu for a particular course, then it is assumed that the Zoom meeting you are scheduling a meeting for that course, and it adds a calendar entry, etc. in the course.
It doesn't matter whether the meeting you are scheduling is generating a new meeting ID or using your Personal Meeting ID, since many people use their Personal Meeting ID for all of their meetings.
If you want to schedule a meeting that is unrelated to your Canvas course, you will want to log directly into Zoom, and not use the Zoom integration link in Canvas.
