Canvas and Microsoft OneDrive Assignment Issues

We're trying to get students to edit a Powerpoint document as an external tool assignment and it seems to be extremely temperamental whether it launches or not. Students can sign into their OneDrive to access the Powerpoint but about 50% of the time they are greeted with the attached error message. All students and instructors receive this when it is down. Then the next day the assignment will once again be visible and working without the error.

We can not work out what the issue is and we need this feature to be consistently accessible as it is a graded assignment.

Any ideas for how to fix? Or is this a known issue?
