Canvas assignment timer

Why doesn't the canvas assignment timer turn off when I exit the page? I have lost many points because I forget about it. It's an awful feature that should be removed.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Canvas assignment timer".  Could you please post a screenshot of where you are seeing this in your course?
