Change how student grades are determined.

For an existing course.  How do I change how student grades are determined/  Eg.  %based on Assignments, % based on quizzes, etc.

It sounds like you want weighted assignment groups.

Hi @sneely 

You will want to create groups (categories) under "assignments" and assign a weight to each group. 

You can create a group for "assignments" for example, and assign it 50% of the total grade. and the same for a group called "quizzes" and then place the appropriate items under each group. 

Keep in mind that inside the group, Canvas will only calculate the items as the same weight if they have the same points. If you have two quizzes under "quizzes" and each is worth 100 points, they would each be worth 50% of the grade of that group. However, if one quiz is worth 75 points and the other is worth 25 points, one will be worth 75% of the total of that group, and the other 25%.
