When copying course content to a new course year/semester, is there a way to do it without it publishing everything? I find it laborious and irritating that you have to go through and click "unpublish" for every item when a course is copied.
Hello @SandraGalloway
Currently, there isn't a built in feature to copy a course and keep everything unpublished as it will copy over verbatim including the state it is in. There have been others asking for this and hopefully in the future the option will be there:
Solved: Copy assignment, quiz, or page without publishing - Instructure Community .
There is however, work arounds if you are familiar with fixing things on the backend or can get your IT support at the school to assist. Here would be the fix to copy everything while making all of the modules, assignments, or files unpublished. This is not official Canvas documentation but it should work as it has helped others do the same: https://daveeargle.com/2019/10/25/canvas-unpublish-hack/
Thank you. I will give this a try. Hopefully the option comes along soon.
This is one of my pet peeves, and I REALLY wish that the Canvas Development would address this issue. Here's my thread about it:
