My Fundamentals of English 1-4 classes are doing the same thing this year. If I cross-list them in Canvas, will the grades still sync to their associated courses in Skyward SIS? I am looking to save time and prevent errors this semester. This last semester I built in Fund Eng 1 and copied it to the other 3; then, I would have to edit them to the correct assignment group. I avoided attaching the assignment document in Google LTI until the assignments were copied and set so Canvas would link them to the correct folder.
I'm not familiar with Skyward, but I do know that Canvas maintains the individual sections when you cross-list. You can still filter by section, and external tools that are rostered will still show separate sections because they will still see unique section IDs. After you cross-list, you can go to the People tab and find your own name; you will see all the sections listed next to your name even though all the names will be consolidated on one long roster for the course.
So my thought is that your sync to Skyward should work just fine because Skyward probably uses the course ID, and that ID remains intact even after cross-listing.
Thank you. Skyward is like any other SIS software and looks for the unique id. This will be a game Changer!
Can I Blueprint a course to create cross-sections? Here is the Situation... I also teach Fundamentals of Reading 1, 2, & 3. Each level is specific to high school grade classification. Within each Canvas Course are Sections for System 44 and Read 180. For example, Reading 1 is a freshman with two sections, system 44 and Read 180.
So, I want to Blueprint for each Read 180 and System 44, then cross-list the unpublished sections to streamline grading and do less work.
Hello @scrider
Thanks for posting this in the global Canvas Community!

Yes, because if I cross-list sections in my reading courses, I will still have 2 different courses in one Canvas. That was a nightmare for grading and posting. The school pushes out the courses by grade level in Reading with sections associated with skyward.
