Discussions - Module Requirements

Is it a new thing that with Discussions Redesign one can not use the discussion grade for a Module requirement? The only options for the Discussions are "View" or "Contribute to Page". Whereas with Assignments and Quizzes you can use "Score at least".

I assume the discussion in question IS a graded discussion?

Makes sense if it is not graded.

But perhaps it is because graded discussions may not be given grades until the discussion is ended. I don't grade individual posts (not possible in Canvas), so I just hold grades until the discussion is closed/end date. And then it can take a few days delay until I manually work through each student and get the grade posted. 

If the setting were based on "score at least" that could delay student progress while I am in the process of grading.

Of course, a release based on grade could always be an instructor OPTION to use or not.

"Score at least" as a Requirement will only prevent students from accessing the next module if you set up a Prerequisite. The OP is asking about Requirements.

Oh yes, sorry, the discussions are graded. 

Our understanding is that it was an option with the previous discussion interface...which is why we are wondering why that was removed.

I can confirm that last month I was able to select "score at least" as a module requirement for a discussion and after the Discussion Redesign was implemented that is no longer an option. "Score at least" will only prevent students from accessing the next module if you set up a Prerequisite. The OP is asking about Requirements.
