Download all student submissions of an assignment with an annotated pdf

I am trying to download all submissions, so that I can share the files.  I am not seeing the option to "Download Submissions." I only see "Speedgrader" and how many need to be graded.  My students submitted an annotated pdf on an assignment.  Can someone help?

I assume you're following the instructions in this Canvas guide:

How do I download all student submissions for an assignment?

Note this caveat: "Bulk downloads can be used for the following submission types: file uploads, text entries (displayed as HTML files), website URLs (displayed as HTML files), and Google Docs submissions. Bulk downloads cannot be used for video file uploads."

Based on my own experimentation, it seems you may also be unable to download files submitted via an external tool, such as Kami or OrbitNote.

I don't think it would make any difference, but just in case, have you tried this other method?

The only other thing I noticed is that I don't see the option when there are no submissions yet. But based on your question it seems that your students have already made submissions.

If you share what method they used to submit, i.e. how you set up the assignment, maybe someone will have a better suggestion.

Thanks for responding. Yes, I tried to do everything suggested in the Canvas Guides.

I uploaded a pdf document using the Student Annotation tool in Submission Type when creating the assignment. The students had to write (annotate) on the document and submit it. Is that an external tool? Is this why I can't see the option to "Download Submissions"?

Hi @farryn_weiss 

An "annotation" assignment does not actually require the students to upload a file, only to use the annotation tool on the file that you uploaded.  So, it is not a "file upload" assignment, and can't be bulk downloaded.
