Downloading of documents

Whenever I click on a file or document in Canvas, it gets downloaded on my computer. What do I do to ensure that it doesn't get downloaded and rather instead opens up in a new tab?

I'm new to online classes and just want to be sure it has all the required data and up to date things I need to preform my tasks..

@DeletedUser I would recommend adding the Adobe plugin to your browser so the pdf will open in a new tab.
