Email notification for new Canvas Email?

I am new Canvas, and I was surprised to see that I receive no email notification when a student sends a message through Canvas (there is only a notification dot that appears over the Canvas Inbox icon). 

Is there a way to receive an email notification when a students sends a message through Canvas and/or the full text of the message to my Outlook inbox?

Hi Kelley, thank you for welcoming me!

When I look at my notifications, I see a section labeled "Conversations", and I am set up to be Notified Right Away for both "Added to Conversation" and "Conversation Message", but I am still not receiving notifications for new Canvas Inbox messages. The email address listed on the Notifications page is my correct email, too.

Am I looking at the wrong section/items, or is this a bug for which I should I submit a help ticket?
