Front page design

I'm new to canvas and have a decent understanding of how to structure the content of my page.  I am curious about creating a professional looking front page.  Are there any resources that I can use to create something that looks nice and has visual (picture) links to modules or pages?  Thanks for any support!

Have you looked in Commons? You can probably find tons of things other people have used for ideas! If you see it in Commons it is because people have shared it and you can use most of the items if they decided to not copyright it. I teach high school and mine is very specific to the school and is much more student-centered than you are probably looking for, but maybe someone else in the community will have something they can share with you via Commons, as well!
