Good afternoon, in Beta, I was looking at how grades were displayed in the Gradebook for a particular Assignment.
The Assignment setting for "Display Grade as" is: Letter Grade
The Grading Scheme: "Enable course grading scheme" is checked (enabled)
The Grading Scheme is: Default Canvas Grading Scheme (other schemes were checked, including course-level and account-level grading schemes).
In the grade column, when entering a letter grade, I get an error message that this is not the proper grade type.
Settings were tested under both manual and automatic grade posting policy.
In the grade column, when I enter a number, the grade is not converted to a Letter Grade.
If I enter a letter, the error I receive is that I have entered an invalid grade type. I can enter a letter manually in the gradebook, but there is a red circle with an exclamation mark beside it; indicating the problem I have entered an invalid grade type. If I enter numbers, the numbers are valid but do not convert to letters.
May I ask,
- Is the functionality for this different in Beta than in Production (I only tested in Beta, but also checked that the settings in Beta matched the ones in Production)
- If the Assignment Setting is set to "Display Grade as" Letter Grade, is the expectation that in the individual column for that Assignment that the Grade will display as a Letter Grade?
- Are there any additional steps for the Display Grade as Letter Grade that I may have missed?
Thank you so much for your time!
