I was explaining how to mark assignments on Canvas with a colleague and told him to click on "Marks" on the sidebar, but it was not there - it was called "Grades" on his version of Canvas? Why?
Also on my colleague's version of Canvas, there is no option to "unfavorite" a course on the Dashboard to reduce the clutter - which is annoying, given that Canvas is ignoring appeals for Dashboard folders.
Why is Canvas different, even we work for the same organisation? Is there any way to standardize the settings?
As usual with Canvas - if it can be made difficult, why make it easy?
Hi @dbradbury
This is an interesting one, because for the most part, depending on your location where you are using Canvas will determine on the terminology for Marks v Grades. In Australia we have the setting as Marks, which is connected to the language setting within Canvas. It sounds like there could be a setting that needs review or checking there.
For the decluttering process, are all the courses published? I believe they have to be published first and then they can be set up as favourites through the All Courses section.
I hope this helps, let me know how you go.
Thanks
Jen
Hi Jen,
Thanks for responding. My colleague's desk is 4 meters from mine. It's the same Canvas account for the same organisation. We're even on the same Wifi network, but he has "Grades" and I have "Marks".
All the dashboard courses are published, but when my colleague clicks the 3 dots on the top right of a course and then the "Move" tab, he has no "unfavourite" option, and I do...
Hi again,
It sounds like there is a glitch in the general set up for some reason. Do you have easy access to your Canvas Admin or IT to check it out.
In the interim, in the user account settings, what does the Language setting say - do you both have the same or different languages?
