Hotspots

Is there a way to add hotspots to course page such as discussion board or pages? I know I can add them in an assessment.  Thank you!

The same thing happened for me...as I also used "hotspot", but then I tried "hot spot", and that's when I found the link I provided.  🙂

I took a look and saw someone had posted code for the hot spot.  I know nothing about coding, how do I add that to my picture for a hot spot?

Would you be able to share an example of something you'd like to put in your course and then use hotspots for it?  I may have an idea or two for you based on what you are wanting to accomplish...thanks!

Sure, in the course I'm creating on Canvas for my Master's program I wanted to use an image of my bitmoji to add a hotspot that would play a voice recording.

Oh!  So I don't think you really need to use a hotspot for that.  You could upload your image to your page, and then similar to making a hyperlink to text on your page, you would instead select the bitmoji image and then link to your audio file (such as a *.mp3 or *.wma audio file).

The following Guides allow you to upload an existing audio/video file or record new audio/video right within the Rich Content Editor, but I'm not really finding a way to link that to an image that you can click on to start playing the audio.

I don't think this is quite what I'm looking for.  I uploaded my bitmoji but am having trouble linking my audio file so that it will play when the bitmoji is clicked.  I read through the guides and they don't explain how to do this.  I was able to use another site to create a hotspot using my bitmoji but when I copy it into my course I get unwanted text on the screen.

There may be ways to do this, but right now I'm not coming up with any solutions for you...even though I do understand what you are wanting to do.  I took a few minutes to search for similar topics here in the Community, but I wasn't able to find much.  Here is what I found:

As you can see, the first link only had two responses, and the second link had no responses.  And, the link that Stefanie had provided in her response within the first link is no longer working...and I cannot find that Feature Idea anywhere (it may have been archived due to the age of the Feature Idea)
