How do I add Course Summary to a page when the Syllabus tab is no longer available?

The Syllabus tab is no longer available, and I would like to include the Course Summary to the Font (Home) Page. The information is very useful to a student and required by the College. 

The Course Summary feature is not available as an option in page setup. The options are very limited.

Hi @mgregor,

I will ask two questions before I respond.

1. Has your institution disabled (which is different than either it being hidden by default or not visible) the native "Syllabus" link from your course(s)?
2. Has your institution disabled (which is different than either it being hidden by default or not visible) the "Course Summary" feature?

If the answers to those two questions are "no", then there are two (series of) steps.

If "Syllabus" has not been disabled, follow the steps at  How do I manage Course Navigation links? - Instructure Community - 1020 .

If "Course Summary" has not been disabled, follow the steps at  How do I use the Syllabus as an instructor? - Instructure Community - 638 .

If your institution has disabled those two, it would need to be custom designed as a workaround and I am not sure anyone would be able to help with that.

This did NOT resolve my question. The institution did suppress the Syllabus in CANVAS. How do I add the Course Summary to a page?

Hi @mgregor,

The "Course Summary" area is a feature that is associated with the "Syllabus" area of Canvas. If the "Syllabus" area of Canvas cannot be activated, there is no way (without doing some sort of custom development that would not be supported) to add the "Course Summary" to a page.

The Course Summary is a useful feature. Is there a way to clone the page to another page that is available?

Hi @mgregor,

I agree that the "Course Summary" area of the "Syllabus" is useful.

The "Syllabus" considered to be a unique type of assignment and that can be seen when looking at the URL/link for it.

You or your institution would need reverse engineer the code for the "Syllabus" and "Course Summary" and then custom develop some way of using it in other types of content (e.g. a page) in Canvas.
