How to change profile picture to a custom one? (community.canvaslms.com)

So I just created my account on community.canvaslms.com, and I wanted to change my profile picture to a custom one (I was going for a cat). However, I can only see the pandas. Is this because I'm a new member?
The only options I have are Pandas and Community Avatars.

Welcome and thank you for posting on the Instructure Community!
I am pretty sure because your current rank is 'Community Novice', you do not have the ability to upload your own profile picture. However, as you progress through the ranks, additional settings are available to you.

Noah is on the right track with the ranking stuff. You'll need to do a few more things in order to "rank up" (which I compare to "leveling up" in video games or even some board games that have that kind of mechanism). Here are a couple Guides for you to look at:
