How to copy a Rubric from one course to another?

I do not see an option to "copy to" an existing Rubric to another instance of the same course in a new term.  It would take a lot of time to have to re-construct the rubric again in the next offering of the same course.  Is there any way I can copy the Rubric?  Thanks.

Yes, you can. Rather than "copy" the rubric, you are going to "import" it into the target class.

1. To import, start with the target class. You are going to use the function "import existing content" from the home page.
2. Make sure to choose the option to "select specific content" from the original course.
3. Then when you are prompted to "select content," you can import all of the rubrics or whichever ones you want.
4. To select certain rubrics, click on the arrow key next to the little box to the left of the word "rubrics." Just check the boxes of the rubrics you'd like to import.

I do not understand how to do this. I went to the "import existing content" link and found the drop down box to "select content type" BUT there was not an option to select Rubrics. What am I supposed to choose?

Hello @HeidiFoster ...

As @SusanNiemeyer has stated above, you will want to be logged in to the course where the content will go into.  Think of it like this...you have a "source" course (where the content currently lives) and a "destination" course (where the content will be going to)...at least, that's how I like to think of it.  Log into your "destination" course...as you'll be selecting content to import (copy) from your "source" course into the "destination" course.

Next, you'll want to review the instructions in How do I select specific content as part of a course import?.  Once you select the option to select specific content, you'll be prompted with options to import (copy) just the pieces (your rubrics in this case) that you want.

Thanks so much Susan and Chris!  That was a very easy thing to do once I knew which option to use.  I appreciate the help very much! Nice to know I can import pieces directly rather than having to copy FROM the source course to the target course.  I shall use that method from now on!

The easiest way is to go into the assignment where you need the rubric and depending on the assignment, either click on the three dots in the upper right and select "Add Rubric" or at the bottom of the page, select "Add Rubric." Then, select "Find a Rubric" in the upper right corner of the rubric template. From there, scroll through and find the class that has the rubric you want to use and click it. Then, find the rubric, and select it to import. It will then be imported.

This isn't exactly what @RaymondHudson was asking.  The process you've described is how to add a rubric to an assignment (I think you were using the word "import" to mean "add").  What Raymond is asking is how to copy/import a rubric from one course to another...which is a different set of steps.  I just wanted to clarify this for you so that people don't get confused if they come across this thread.  Hope this helps!

Anyone using Harmonize - if you created a rubric in harmonize - can you copy that rubric to another course that also uses harmonize?

It would be possible, but it's probably unnecessary since the Harmonize rubrics that are generated with AI are highly specific to each Harmonize assignment/discussion.
