Is there a way to hide the author of discussion posts?

On discussion posts, students are able to see who authored a discussion post and when it was last edited. Is there a way to disable this or hide the author?

To my knowledge, this is not possible right now.  I searched the Community site a bit, and I found a Feature Idea that seems to align with your request:
