Hello! I am trying to create a new assignment, but when I click "Submission" and then click "External Tool," I no longer see the Google Drive option, but instead I see "Google Assignments LTI.3." When I click on that button, it says that my current email is not allowed to log in and that I need to use my school email, but I am currently using my canvas school email already. I'm not sure if there is something else I should be doing, but I have had the hardest time trying to figure out how to proceed. I would love any help or advice that can be given. Thank you!
Hi @JessPruszynski,
We encounter similar things with Google at my institution (not limited to the LTI 1.3 integration). It's almost always because you're signed in to a school email as well as a personal @gmail.com account at the same time. For whatever reason, Google just chokes in this situation instead of asking "which account should we use". The easiest solution is to work in a private/incognito browser window so that you're not signed into anything. When you log into Canvas and set up your google assignment from a private/incognito browser session, you should be prompted to log in to your google account. Just make sure you use your school account at that point and it'll likely work.
Hope this helps!

We have this same issue right now and the odd thing is our tech coaches with admin rights can't create a Google 1.3 assignment anywhere in that course. Is there a way for Canvas to somehow remove the 1.3 integration for that course and re-install it? This same user has no problem using 1.3 LTI in other courses. Canvas claimed this was a google issue, but why would the user be able to use the 1.3 integration in other Canvas courses. 🤷🏻♂️
Hi @hheriford,
There isn't really the ability to uninstall/reinstall an account-level integration for a single course. Even if that were an option, in my experience it wouldn't actually accomplish much. The way the integrations work is to send info about a user/course over to the tool provider (google), and then that provider decides how to direct the user based on that info. If every single course was broken, I'd say the issue could be on the Canvas side, but when individual courses are broken, I would say in my experience the issue is usually on the vendor's side linking the info sent by Canvas to their own database(s). If this is a course that hasn't started yet, I'd honestly recommend just making a new course in Canvas, as that will change the course info sent to google when launching the tool and probably get things working again. If there are already student submissions and grades in the course, that's not a good option, and I think you would have to try to get support from Google.
I know this might not be the info you wanted to hear, but I hope it helps a bit.

For those that may be interested, our tech team in our district ultimately solved this. Really, there are 2 tricks that will work. We first created a new manual course, and then cross-listed the sections from the problematic course. Then, we could re-integrate with Google and voila! The other thing that worked was resetting course content. We were only able to employ this last option due to the fact that there was a mere submission from one student. Obviously, this would be more problematic if there were more submissions later in the term. Hope this helps someone out there!
Hey!
I was wondering if there were any other solutions for this issue? Our entire district is experiencing the same thing. I tried the suggestions here but neither worked.
It worked until the beginning of November. Now it is gives this message each time.
"Access to Assignments is disabled for this Google Account"
