Learning Stream and Canvas API broken, how to fix?

Hi everyone,
I am learning how to use Learning Stream and Canvas. We recently created an Event in Learning Stream with a connection to Canvas course ID number. We had batch enrolled registrants in that Canvas ID number. My colleague then put them into section in Canvas and not Learning Stream. We learned that, that is not how you do that and the API/mapping is now broken. How do we fix this? People enrolled in the Canvas ID and sections have submitted assignments already so how would they be able to keep that without having to resubmit?
An option we thought of, but still don't understand is we create new events in Learning Stream with those Canvas course ID numbers and sections and batch enroll in each correct section and ID. But the conflict is how would we be able to not have the participant resubmit assignments? Also, if we unregister them in Learning Stream by adding to another event how would that affect Canvas assignments and registration?
