Lockdown Browser ETA for New Quizzes

Jump to solution

How is new quizzes rolling out without a lockdown browser? What is the ETA on this happening? I don't see how we can test securely without it? I'm being told new quizzes is rolling out regardless.

Thanks

Hi  @karen_hobbs

As of right now, there is no firm date on the roll-out of New Quizzes. Thank Whomever!  Never listen to rumours, unless it is the Fleetwood Mac album.

But you are right, it still does not support a lockdown browser.

I haven't tested this fully, but I am wondering if Canvas is creating New Quizzes with it's own built in lockdown browser of sorts. I recently had an issue with the calculator opening in the exam, I asked students to go to the start menu and open up the computers built in calculator. Canvas would not allow this, a pop up said the application could not be opened. I did not ask students to attempt to open a new browser (didn't want to disturb them), but I would like to test this. Don't know if this is accurate at all, just something I noticed while using New Quizzes.

Do not create a new quiz from the Quizzes tab. You should still create such quiz from the Assignments page using the Quizzes 2 LTI and opening it in a new tab.

(Opening in a new tab is a must since it removes the Global Navigation bar on the left.)

Hi Kelvin

Apologies for being slow - are you saying that New Quizzes does work with the Respondus lockdown browser? Have you tried Respondus Monitor?
