Login/Activity Incorrect In API

We service WIOA grant students which requires us to report on a student's activity and academic progress. We recently noticed that when we pull down assignment submissions, a certain student has assignments with submit dates days beyond their last activity date. It doesn't seem to be an API issue per se since we can log into Canvas and see the same data via their website.

Has anyone experienced this?

We're of course worried about the frequency of this sort of error as it can effect student stipends with other grants such as RWN/WERC.

We could of course simply assume a login on day X for work submitted on day X but that doesn't capture a student that may log in for many days but never turn in an assignment.

Anyway, any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I have concerns with regards to Canvas activity logging, as I can pull several different reports from the standard Canvas Sub Account reports and get at least three different most recent access dates.

Relevant factors include

• Failure of Canvas to report event data from Quiz LTI and SCORM objects (it does appear to report grades)
• Login data is skewed if the student is using Canvas App access and doesn't shut down and restart the app

If you have a strict reporting requirement I would recommend running a variety of reports (or APIs) from Canvas and comparing the results .... you may then find that you need a consolidated feed pulling from different reports/APIs and combining the output....
