MP4 video upload - not working

I have uploaded my lectures to Canvas by uploading MP4 videos at the beginning of the semester. I uploaded 4 lectures, but during the last two weeks it indicates that there is an error during the upload. I have had to convert the MP4s into YouTube videos. I use the updated version of Chrome and I have updated to Windows 11. Suggestions?

Hello,

Usually when I see this issue, it's because you've reached your course storage quota. If you go to Settings > Course Statistics (on the right) and then click on the File Storage tab, you can see your usage.

If you've run out of room, reach out to your Canvas admin and ask they increase your storage. Also, if your institution has access to Canvas Studio, I strongly recommend uploading videos there as it doesn't count against your course storage limit.

Hello, Chad. That was the issue. I had met my quote in Canvas uploads, I will reach out to my college tech support to increase space available. If they don't allow it, I will need to continue to upload to YouTube. It just an extra step, I would rather avoid.

For clarification, are you saying that you are uploading your MP4 videos to your course "Files" area?  If so, I wouldn't recommend doing that...as uploading your MP4 files there is going to quickly take up your course file storage...as you've probably noticed.  If you use the steps outlined in the Guide I had linked in my other reply, your videos would be uploaded to a Canvas media server.  Thus, it shouldn't take up course storage space that you might need for other documents, files, presentations, etc.  You might want to explore uploading your videos via the info in the Guide that I linked to.  Or, if your school has purchased Canvas Studio, that would be another option to explore.  Hope this helps!

I have been following the guidelines all along. I have uploaded MP4s to the Canvas Media Server before. The issue started just a few weeks ago. 

But yesterday, i was able to upload again. We shall see what happens today.

It is definitely not a storage issue in my case.  500 available; 9.75 used.  Hmmmm ...

Your screenshot doesn't really detail the steps you are taking to include/embed the MP4 video into your course.  Can you please detail the steps you are taking to embed your video into Canvas?  I would recommend that you follow the steps outlined in this Guide:

Let us know if the steps outlined in this Guide are the same ones that you are trying...or if your process has been different.
