I made a free-for-teachers account and would like to create a public course, available to anyone with the URL. I followed the instructions here: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-customize-visibility-options-for-a-cour... but my course visibility option cannot be changed. It asks me to contact my administrator. But this is simply a free-for-teachers account, not affiliated with an institution, so I don't have an administrator to contact. Have I overlooked something? Or is what I'm trying to do not possible?
Hello @JasonSwanson
Thanks for posting this in the Canvas Community!
I believe if you need to have that adjusted in your Free For Teacher course, you can contact Canvas support to have them make that change for you. Since you don't technically have an admin to contact for your Free For teacher courses, Canvas support would act as your admin in that instance.
They will just need to have you provide them with a link to the course where you need this done and they will also need written permission from you to make that change. You can usually just send them an email confirming that you want that change and they can make it happen.
Hopefully this helps!

I have two courses that I made at least five years ago that I was able to make public with the same type of account. However, the two new courses I created this summer run into the same issue. I really want to avoid making students log in to see the course because (a) I've had LOTS of trouble with student accounts over the years (2397087048927398273 anyone?), and (b) I'd like parents to be able to see the course without having to use their child's account or make one of their own.
