I have a assignment I have been trying to duplicate. I click on the 3 dots on the righthand side and select duplicate.
But, the working wheel just keeps going around and after a good 15 to 20 minutes I get an error message.
Any one else expeiencing this?

I just tried the "Duplicate" option in my own sandbox course by duplicating an assignment on the "Assignments" index page. The assignment had text for directions and an attached rubric. My assignment duplicated in about 1 second. Is your assignment just a regular assignment in Canvas? Or, are you using any external LTI tools connected to the assignment (e.g. Turnitin, Google LTI, O365 LTI, etc.)? Is there anything else about the assignment you can identify that might be causing it not to duplicate correctly? Have you tried reaching out to Canvas Support to see if they can help troubleshoot this with you? How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor?

Thanks for the quick reply. I made sure that the assignment was not using a external tool, we use Turnitin a lot, it has a rubric attached, but still no luck. Checked several other courses and getting the same issue on a few others.
Wondering if it could be down to the fact that students have already submitted on the assignment I'm trying to duplicate, but I'm sure if there are then the duplicate option is not there.
Looks like I might have to raise a ticket for it.

I tried submitting a file to an assignment in my own sandbox course, and when I returned to my instructor view, I was still able to duplicate the assignment (which only took about 1 second to duplicate). So, in my own testing, I don't think that students already submitting could be the cause. I think it's a good idea for you to contact the Canvas Help Desk staff. Keep us posted!
