Recovering Module Contents after "Copy to" Action

I am designing a course that the administrator created a uniform set of templates to utilize. They were organized under a singular module labeled 0 Template - X for each type of discussion, page, etc. 

I used "Copy to" to create copy of this and used it to build out my first module while retaining the templates as a master copy. When I used the "Copy to" again, the first module was incompletely overwritten. The pages and the quiz still exist, but a discussion post and assignment. All of the non-page items have been renamed, including the module itself.

Was there a better way to do this process? And is there a way to recover those lost components?

Once you have copied the template items into your course, you can duplicate the items and edit the duplicates, rather than the template items. This way you retain a clean set of the templated items for future duplication.

The solution that @JenniferAshley provided was helpful for future course development (and subsequently what I adopted). But unfortunately, it did not address my problem of trying to recover the lost work.

Unforunately, when copying/importing the same content from the same location, the content that already exists is overwritten and it is not possible to restore.

What might be possible, depending on the timing, is to access the "beta" or "test" environments of your Canvas environment. I would recommend that you review the  What are the release schedules for beta, productio... - Instructure Community - 242411 and  How do I access the Canvas beta environment as an ... - Instructure Community - 727  guides for help, or work directly with your Canvas team.

After accessing "beta" or "test" you could: (a) export the course to a downloadable file that you could import or (b) manually copy and paste or (c) download the individuals files needed to recreate it.

Thanks for the quick response. Ultimately, that's what I had assumed when the /undelete feature wasn't promising. With it being during summer, I did not have reliably quick access to my Canvas team; however, with school back in session, I'll keep that in mind if any future mishaps on my end occur!
