Modifying due dates for accommodations

I have a number of students who have extra time accommodations such as time and 1/2 or an extra hour. Most of my assignments are due by midnight on the day of assignment. Is there a method to create due dates and times for all my students, taking the accommodations into account, but being able to use it on multiple assignments in the future?

Hi @KMullis1,

When we have those sorts of accommodations at my institution, they generally apply only to timed quizzes, not to an assignment availability window.  I suppose if the assignment window is very short, an argument could be made that they should apply there too, but you might want to get some clarity from your accommodations team about this.  Unfortunately, Canvas doesn't have a way to do something like this in bulk for all assignments like they do have for New Quizzes though.  I think you'd have to go assignment by assignment to make this change.

Hi Chris. 

Who do we contact for much needed Canvas upgrades like this? For example, I have recently inquired about the following two items, and the response is that Canvas does not have this feature.

1. Upgrade bulk assignments with an automatic extension for students with disabilities. Currently, Canvas requires that instructors must enter extensions for each assignment individually, which takes a LOT of time. As more and more students are diagnosed with disabilities that require extra time, this is a much needed feature!

2. Update bulk assignments with a change in time. Currently, Canvas only allows for a bulk change in the DATE, but not the time of an assignment. When instructors are using a department template with assignments due before class, the dates likely remain the same, but the time of class is different. Again, Canvas requires that instructors change each assignment individually, which requires a LOT of time.

Lucky you. I have two students with "due date flexibility for assignments" already and the semester doesn't start until tomorrow. I'm sure I will have close to a dozen, roughly half those who have extra time accommodation for tests. JenNimitz is correct in her reply.
