When my course was copied from a previous term the course summary from that term followed. How do I delete the old course summary on my front page?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hello, @mehome .
The Course Summary on the Syllabus page (which can be set as a course's Home Page, which appears to be the case for your course) is based on the course's content, such as assignments, quizzes, calendar items, etc. To update the Course Summary you need to edit the due dates or delete the content items as you wish.
You can find some details here: How do I use the Syllabus as an instructor? Further information can be found in the Canvas Instructor Guide: Canvas Instructor Guide - Table of Contents.
Also, please note that you could have adjusted event and due dates as part of the course import process: How do I adjust events and due dates in a course import?
Let us know if we can be of any further help.
Best,
Nelson

The solution does not work for Events.
I have this problem every time I update a course.
I have seen it posted many times and the Canvas employees answering do not seem to understand the real question.
Deleting or changing dates for assignments and to-do list items is easy.
Deleting old Events from an imported course's "Course Summary" list is impossible.
Please fix this.
Nobody wants last year's events to show up on this year's syllabus.
The only work-around I know of is to manually delete events from the old course before importing.
Then start over. You can lose a lot of work this way.
When you pull up your calendar, there will be an "undated" folder with a drop down arrow. You can delete the old events that are still listed in new courses by clicking on the event and selecting delete. It will prompt you to ensure you want to delete the event.
After you have deleted all of the events, they will be removed from your syllabus summary page.
That is the first helpful reply I have seen. Now they need to make it easy to delete batches of calendar items, instead of singly, but this is a start I can work with. Thank you!
Thank you very much!!
I also found the same (not efficient) way to delete old events by going to the course calendar and choosing "Agenda" view. The old (2022) events show up on top and I had to one-by-one delete the events. Now only this semesters' events and assignments, etc. show up on the "Course Summary." I had this problem once before and I think I talked to an ITSS person at our school who suggested it was because there were Zoom meetings associated with the events. It works to delete each event, it just takes a few minutes!
