Open Scorm content in a new window

Hi- I'm wondering if there is an official way to open a scorm package in a new browser window. I've uploaded the package into Canvas, but it seems it will only load it in the same window as Canvas. I found a workaround by doing the following:

1. Go to the uploaded scorm content, edit the page, click the </> option to see the code, grab the part of the url that looks like "https://scone-prod.us-east-1.insops.net/packages/xxxx/launch"
2. Add an item to a module as External Tool. Enter https://scone-prod.us-east-1.insops.net/packages/xxxx/launch as the url.

Is that the only way to do it? I'm concerned that this approach may break in the future, but wanted to double check and see if there was a better or different way. I know I could use https://rusticisoftware.com/products/scorm-cloud/ to do the same thing, but I'd rather host the content directly within Canvas.

Hi 

You can try uploading the scorm package as an assignment.

In the edit assignment settings, you can choose " Load this tool in a new tab"
