Hello, is there a way to sort/order our gradebook by students' FIRST name. Currently, we do so only by last name. Since we are an international college, however, students from certain countries have no last name; So fields are left blank, or contain N/A, etc. It would make things way easier if we could sort by first name. Thanks

Hello,
If the "Allow gradebook users to view and export student first and last names in separate columns" setting is turned on for your institution, then you can split the names and and sort student names by first name. Here is an article that explains how to do this.
I hope this helps,
MaryAnn

thanks so much for your speedy reply. Sorry I was not precise enough in my post. At our institution, we only have one column, called Student Name. First and last name are packed together into one cell. And the ordering goes, by default, by last name. Is there a way to do it by first name?
Hello,
Unfortunately, your institution has to turn on the "allow grade book users to view and export student and first and last names in separate columns" setting.
Another way around this is to export the grade book to a CSV, manipulate the columns, and work within the CSV, but this will not be within Canvas.
