Outcomes CVS Defaulting Calculation Method

Our K-12 district is transitioning to outcomes-based grading, and as the only school using Canvas, I’ve been navigating much of this through trial and error. I’ve created a formatted CSV with outcomes for two courses and specified decaying_average as the calculation_method. However, when I import the file into the outcomes section of my subaccount, Canvas defaults to weighted_average instead.

Interestingly, it does appear to accept my calculation_int as expected. Canvas accepts the CVS without reporting errors.

Has anyone else experienced this, or know a way to ensure the correct calculation method is applied?

Hi -- this is a bit of a delayed reply, but if you're still looking for an answer, I believe the "weighted average" is the newer Canvas replacement for decaying average, so the automatic replacement in your CSV upload would be expected.  This weighted average was introduced as a replacement around September 2023 and allows you to specify a calculation int.  Canvas Outcomes: New and Updated Proficiency Calcu... - Instructure Community - 579866  I'm not sure why the Outcomes CSV documentation hasn't been completely updated to reflect this.  I no longer noticed a feature setting for this calculation method for this in my institution's Canvas instance.  Outcomes Import Format Documentation - Canvas LMS REST API Documentation
