Canvas: Grades Page
Overlapping Content or Cut Off Content
(the Canvas UI looks sloppy at all widths on desktop)
To Reproduce This Bug:
Use a desktop computer and browser
(e.g. 13 Macbook Air and Firefox Browser)
Go to the Grades Page for a Class
At wide window widths, note that the right hand side of the page has the summary of the grade for the class but it **overlaps with the main content** of the page
- OR -
At narrower widths, note that the fractions for points earned over points possible are **off the page** and you need to **scroll horizontally** to see the full score.
There is no way, except maybe wider than possible on a 13" display to not have content overlap or get pushed off screen to the right.
SOLUTION: Report this but and fix the responsive views for all the common widths so that content does not overlap or extend beyond the viewport
NOT A SOLUTION: Do not mark this as solved by telling me to get a different computer, use a different browser, or any other version of "go away"
THIS IS SLOPPY and Canvas is not free, open source software but it looks like it is. If it were free to my university I would be more forgiving.

@james_whalley, from prior conversations that I have had with Instructure Support and my CSM (which has changed several times since we started as a Instructure customer in February 2018), I have been told to consider the web browser versions that are documented in the What are the browser and computer requirements for Instructure products? - Instructure Community - ... support article as the minimal web browser versions that are supported.
The reasons for this are:
@ARD2 did mention in their original post/question that this is happening in Firefox. I was also able to duplicate the problem with Firefox with a 16" screen but with a Firefox web browser window that is smaller.
@ARD2, have you reported this directly to Canvas Support? If you have not, I would recommend that you do or that you work with the appropriate individuals or area of your institution to do that.

@ARD2 Can you send screenshots of what you are describing? I'm having a hard time reproducing anything beyond needing to scroll horizontally.
I put a screenshot on the original post
Hi @ARD2,
As @james_whalley said, are you able to share screenshots with us? We are not able to provide you with any support (whether a workaround or solution) unless we can see what you are experiencing.
Based on how you have labeled this, as an alternate, please report this to either your university's Canvas team or directly to Canvas Support. You can find the contact options/methods by clicking on the "Help" area when you are logged into Canvas.
-Doug
I have attached a screenshot with personal information blurred
@ARD2 I was able to dduplicate this, but it was with Firefox 139, which looks to be unsupported (see below). What version of Firefox are you using?
Instructure products support the current and previous major releases of the following browsers:
You can verify that the browser you are currently using is up to date by using the browser checker tool in the step below.

@dbrace Is there a way to report things to Canvas Support? I think there isn't and that's why I landed here. Also, do I really want to experience their customer support telling me to use a different browser. They should stop whining and fix their front end code to actually be responsive on all major browsers. Canvas Student just isn't their priority because the students aren't the people who renew the contract.
@ARD2 You can reach out to support@instructure.com for direct Canvas support.
It can also be reproduced in the current version of Chrome. Version 140
..but way to blame the user. lol.
Sorry. I was not intending to place any blame, just trying to troubleshoot.
When you reached out to Instructure support, were they able to offer any insight?
