we have created a page with the title Course Home Header, it used to have the url pages/course-home-header, but after some messing with the page it now has the url pages/course-home-header-13 and no matter what we do, we can't get the URL back to pages/course-home-header and that URL (pages/course-home-header) doesn't work anymore (it ends up taking us to the edit page for a blank page and then it creates a new pages/course-home-header-14 url. how can we get back to the original url pages/course-home-header, we need that to be the URL
The number at the end indicates there are multiple instances of a page with the same name.
I would assume, your original "Course Home Header" had been deleted which resulted in the blank edit page when you're trying to open the link.
Canvas doesn't permanently remove many of its components (E.g. pages, assignments, files, announcements, etc.). When you delete something, most of the time it will go to /undelete page. You can try to restore the original page by adding /undelete to the end of the course URL (E.g https://YOURSCHOOL.instructure.com/courses/12345/undelete )
thank you for the response. and @Chris_Hofer as well. We tried renaming the current file, undeleteing the old file and it brought back course-home-header-06 i renamed that to something completely different which also changed the url then i made sure there weren't any other deleted files, and then i tried to create course home header again. the new url is now course-home-header-14. 😞 guess I am not going to get course-home-header url back. I wonder if resetting the course, or creating a new course and selecting content to import would help with this? Or i sonder if there is anything through the API that might give me back accesso the original course-home-header url?
thanks for the advice.
