Pages won't copy from old course to new course

1) I am trying to copy course content from last semester to this semester.  I cannot get the pages to copy/import.  I've done this every semester since 2020 and not had any problems.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

2) I've also got another new problem that I haven't encountered before where I am locked out of access to the pages from last semester as well a some other content in the modules.  I am not given an option anywhere that I can find to unlock these.  The message is, "This page was locked Dec 14, 2024 at 11:59pm." If I click the 3 dot menu for the page, the only options I get are send to, copy to, and share to commons.  No access to editing anything about the page.

Please let me know if anyone has any solutions to these problems.

@RoydenHobbs For (1), I would recommend reaching out to Canvas support. Folks on this site cannot see into your instance to determine specific issues.

For (2), it sounds like your institution has concluded the course and limited it from being changed. You may want t reach out to your Canvas support team if you really need to edit the pages in the old course. Otherwise, you could make changes to pages after copying them to a new course. You may also be able to change the course dates of your course from the Settings page and then make changes.

@RoydenHobbs For #2, what specifics steps have you tried? Can you take a screenshot of what you see when trying to edit a page? Also, can you confirm what role you have in the course in question?

Hi @RoydenHobbs

When you click on copy to it should give you option to search for the course that you wanted to copy to. Is that option showing? Make sure that you are enrolled in the new course as teacher. If the option is not showing you may go to the new course and import the contents from there, it will give you option to select certain contents or the whole course.

The other issue is once a course is locked i.e. after the Term/course end date you will only be able to view the contents/copy to other course but not able to get into the page to edit or do any marking etc.

If after all still not working may be worth to contact your Canvas Admin for help.
