PROBLEM: I am having an issue with Canvas with prerequisites and locking modules. First, we set up Pre-Requisites that say you can't continue until all things in the "Getting Started" module (module 1) are complete. We then locked modules 2-5 to a calendar and time date so that participants couldn’t power through all assessments in one day. The issue is when you lock the module and it becomes unlocked due to the calendar and time mechanism, it ignores the prerequisites. Anyone have a solution?
Hi @JenniferKelly1 ,
As a Canvas Admin (not a Teacher), I have really always thought about the unlocking options as a choice, either do it by date, or use the prereqs. Your idea to use these in concert with each other does make sense to me, but I don't think Canvas is designed that way. If your modules have some kind of assignment/discussion/quiz in them, I'd recommend putting availability dates on those assignments, then using the prereqs to control module access. If one of the module requirements is to complete a quiz, and that quiz isn't available until date X, students couldn't fly through the course.
Do you think this might work for you?
