Is setting up an exam on Canvas the same as a quiz?

Yes, we use the terms "quiz", "test", "exam", and "assessment" interchangeably. All of these can be created on the Quizzes page in your course (https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-26467-how-do-i-use-the-quizzes-index-page ). Let us know if you have any other questions.
