Reopening multiple assignments

I am teaching summer school and have closed assignments after the due date to avoid getting assignments that are two weeks past due etc.  Now I am in a pickle because I am going to allow several students that did not do the assignments a chance to do them for partial credit.

Can I reopen multiple assignments without going through the edit function?

Can I assign these assignments to a few students only?

Hi, Yvonne,

Yes, you can open an existing assignment and let a student have access to it. 

Use this lesson: How do I assign an assignment to an individual student? 

It shows how to add a student when creating a new assignment, but open your existing assignment, and look for the +Add button. You can add the individual student's names and create specific due dates and availability dates.

Once a student is added to the assignment, the assignment column in the Gradebook will show that the student has been added to the assignment, and you can manage the assignment for the student as you would for all other students.

Erin is no longer in the Community, but in her defense, she did answer @yvonne_mondrago's last question.  It is possible to assign individual students to a specific assignment, and she gave directions on how to do just that.  However, to my knowledge, there is no way to assign individual students to many assignments all at once.  You still need to do that part per assignment.

Now, if we back up a bit, I'd like to address due dates and availability dates.  In @yvonne_mondrago's question, she said she was using due dates to limit when a student could submit the assignment.  Just for clarification, students could still submit an assignment if it was beyond the due date.  However, maybe @yvonne_mondrago meant that she was using the availability dates.  If she was using those, then a student would not be able to access the assignment after the available end date had passed.

All this being said, I don't know if you have used this screen, but it is possible to edit both the due date and availability dates all on one screen...so this part is quicker now.  Check out this Guide:

The answer did not address the question:  how do I open 20 assignments for one or two students?  I take it that it is not possible, as with so many common sense things with Canvas
