SIS integration with iSAMS

iSAMS is a popular MIS used in the UK and in many (British) International schools. Has anyone any experience working with iSAMS or even better, set up a working integration.

Worryingly, Canvas is not on their list of integration partners...

Looking for any advice, guidance and people to talk to...!

Short answer - No

Slightly longer answer  - Someone at Canvas UK is looking into it and making enquiries.

I would be interested to know what stage you are at with Canvas (and the integration). I've moved from a British International school which had SIMS. We (by which I mean our very talented Head of Information Systems) wrote some code to do a sort of one-way integration to populate our courses.

Be good to share ideas and possible answers - even if it is how to extract classes with csv and do the job manually :O(

Hi, We (https://www.gsync.uk/) have integrated iSAMS with Canvas, it will automatically add students end enrol them. Please reach out to us for further information.

Many thanks Andrew but we are using Office365 rather than Google which I think rules us out?

I have been speaking with iSAMS on an infrequenct basis. They are definite plans to integrate iSAMS however this will not happen until the release of their new/updated Curriculum Manager module. As of 9/4/24, they hope for a release in the next academic term Sept 2024 as part of a phased rollout of Curriculum Manager.

So I guess we will need to wait.....

Will shortly be moving to a school that has iSAMS and Canvas but not yet sure if Workspace or Office365. When I find out, I will enquire from Andrew about this product.

Canvas schools and iSAMS are quite a rare thing! Whereabouts are you working at the moment?

Rohit has now left but we are still looking into this integartion - the isams roadmap webinar last Thursday mentioned Canvas as an existing integration (that we cannot find info on anywhere else - so I have asked our account manager to dig into that) and a future integration that is on the roadmap. We have a custom integartion for users, classes, sections and enrolments into Canvas - but are keen to be able to get the data out in different ways - Data 2 and intelligent insights might help with this - but API calls to do this would also be useful.

Ive reached out to iSAMS for an update. I was sent this PDF from a recent (November) webinar. 

So whilst it is on their radar, I'm guessing its not in production? Will let you know when I know more.

UPDATE - 28 APRIL 2025

Well Canvas is on iSAMS roadmap and their website mentions 3rd part integration when you Google Canvas + iSAMS. I have emailed iSAMS for further information a few times so hoping to get more details soon.
