Screen Capture Application for Canvas Studio

How exactly does the Screen Capture application for Canvas Studio work? Does it allow instructors to capture (record) my primary screen while I am showing something in class so that students can later refer to the recording?

Hi there.  Yes, you should be able to do exactly what you want...recording your screen to show an application on your screen, or a website, for example.  There are a couple Guides that I can refer you to for additional information:

I am exploring using Canvas Studio for screen capturing while I carry out selected lectures. Thus far, I have used Panopto. I started doing some research and looked up some sites. It appears that:

1. For class lectures capturing and recording, Panopto is suggested as a potentially better alternative. Has this been your experience? As I went into Canvas Studio capabilities and video support, the relative disadvantage of Canvas Studio (for lecture purposes) it was not obvious to me, but I am not as familiar with it yet. Unfortunately, I've never used Panopto before, so I cannot answer this question on how it compares to Canvas Studio.  Maybe someone else here in the Community has used Panopto before.

I think it would be best for you to reach out to your school's Canvas administrator(s) or someone from your school's Online Learning / eLearning / Distance Education team.  They could contact their assigned Customer Success Team at Instructure (the folks that make Canvas) to see exactly how much total storage your school has available for Studio.
