What is the best way to share content in Canvas? The "Send To" feature is amazing but I find that when I try to edit content shared in this manner, the content is still connected to the original version. This causes editing issues for those the content was shared. Should this be done in a shared sandbox or should this content be exported and imported to the courses of the other teachers?

Hello @jmillner1
Thank you for contacting the Instructure Community. Send to is a good feature but there are other alternatives. One of the easier options is to simply add the teacher to your course in the people tab. This way, they can come and import content when they need to without your involvement. They can copy content using the "copy to" function or the import existing content option. Here is the Canvas guide: How do I copy content from another Canvas course u... - Instructure Community
Another alternative is to export the course in its entirety and send that to the instructor. They can import this to their real course or a sandbox. Here is the Canvas guide:

Hopefully this helps!

Thank you for the reply. I am just looking into sharing single quizzes that I help teachers create/format. Maybe my issues have been one-offs but when I use the send to feature it causes ownership issues. I create stuff in an unpublished canvas course and send it to teachers to use. I have found that if I do not have the quiz itself published it causes the students of the teachers I send it to not to be able to access it. I have also had a teacher try to make edits and the quiz autosaves back to the original version. What seems to me to be happening is the quiz is still being tied to my course somehow even if sent to other courses/teachers. I am assuming exporting the quiz is the best way to avoid this but looking for confirmation on this.
Hello @jmillner1 ! Thanks for replying to @greydon ! You must be using New Quizzes! I have heard of this before, and witnessed it when I tried to make a different copy of a test for accommodations. In the last instance, I learned NOT to bank the questions before making the copy! (More work, but I think it will get better when New Quizzes if fully integrated into Canvas.)
Exporting the quiz as a zip file and then sending the zip file has worked for many people since it seems to cut the link to your course. This link should help.
