We want to report and view mastery/ outcomes/ standards at account and sub-account level.
However, when we view a given student, we (and we believe they) see ALL outcomes at above Canvas course level even if they are not connected to those standards through an outcome and rubric.
Our desired behaviour is that a student (and a reviewer) see ONLY those outcomes that are relevant. Relevant outcomes are those against which a student has been allocated an assignment, or been graded, against the outcome concerned.
1) Is the observed inclusion of all standards by design, or accident
2) Is there a way that we can isolate outcomes so that when we view a student we see only those outcomes for which the student has been set the outcome via a grading rubric
The two current use cases are set out below. Can anyone comment please ?
Use Case 1
We run a work based academic set of awards called 'Degree Apprenticeships' and we wish to collate apprenticeship progress from four faculty sub accounts at account level. We do not want students on the non-Degree Apprenticeship courses to see th Apprenticeship standards, and vice versa.
Use case 2
We are running a pre-arrivals Canvas site for the first time this year, and will track the students progress against account level standards. Those standards do not apply to students who are entering years 2-4, and we do not want those year 2-4 students to be associated with those standards.
I'm curious if there is a reason why students would need to see the Outcomes section in a Canvas course for this?
Generally, I would say to hide that in the course navigation for students, and they can still go to an assignment and see their score on outcomes for that assignment. This will not impact your ability to run reports on outcomes, it just removes the ability for students to access the Outcomes section.
We'd like students to be able to view all their account level outcomes across all Canvas courses in a single view- currently this seems to be bound to specific courses in the grades view. However we don't want (as staff or students) to see outcomes that are not associated with activities/assignments that have nothing to do that student....
