Silly question, I'm a noob - how do I start a new class/unit? There appears to be no obvious "add" "+" or "start" new class button or command.

Thanks for replying back.  While I cannot speak for your specific school, many schools will have new, empty Canvas course shells set up automatically prior to the official start date of the course.  You might want to first have a conversation with your school's Online Learning / eLearning / Distance Education department to see how they handle the initial setup of course shells in Canvas.  Then, you can start putting content into the course or copying course content from another course (if your school allows that).
