How do you submit a discussion board assignment in canvas?
1) Modules
2)the chapter discussion board I need to submit
3) a page comes up with a notice "You must post before seeing replies. Edit history will be available to instructors. Below that is a box with my instructor, the chapter assignment info and REPLY in a blue box. I can click REPLY but it's like I would be replying to my Instructor?
Can someone help please?

Hi there, @MeganKS ...
While I don't know the specifics of your course or this particular discussion topic (other than what you have already provided), I wouldn't be able to provide you more details on the requirements of what you're being asked to do for this discussion. That being said, I can at least provide you with some general resources that might help to get you on the right track. The first is a short video tutorial (please note that this video tutorial will be retired at the end of the year...in place of shorter video tutorials that are or will be embedded in written Canvas Guides):
Discussions Overview (Students) - Instructure Community - 383515
There are also a bunch of written Guides that you can look through: Student Guide - Instructure Community
And here is a Guide on how to reply to a discussion topic: How do I reply to a discussion as a student? - Instructure Community - 334
Re: Item #3 in your question... instructors can set up discussion topics so that you cannot see other classmates' replies until you post a reply yourself. That is why you are seeing a message like that. So, if this is the first time you are replying to that discussion topic, then yes, you are most likely replying to your instructor's question. However, once you post your reply, you would then see other classmates' replies as well (provided that one or more people have responded prior to you). Then, you would be able to reply to those classmates, too. If your instructor had not enabled that option to initially hide other replies, then you would see the instructor's initial question along with any other classmate responses.
Again, this is just general information for you, but any specific questions you have should be directed to your instructor...since we here in the Community do not have access to your school's Canvas environment or any course(s) you are taking there. You can reach out to your instructor within Canvas by clicking on the "Help" icon in the far left-hand global navigation menu and then selecting "Ask Your Instructor a Question".
I hope these resources will be helpful for you. Sing out if you have any other questions about this...thanks!
