Why can't instructors and students subscribe to a Group Discussion? I am designing a course for 150 students, so we break the students into groups of 25. I have created a "collaboration corner" discussion which is non-graded, and students aren't required to post. However, if they can't subscribe to the discussion, they are unaware when a peer asks for help and will only see it when they log back into Canvas, which isn't very timely for a student with a question.
We have used Collaboration Corners in previous courses that are smaller, and there isn't a need for groups, and it works fantastic.

Yes, subscribing to a Group Discussion is an option and works like other Discussions (automatic subscriptions for the creator of a discussion and the authors of any replies). Please have your students check their Notifications settings.
How do I manage my Canvas notification settings as a student?
