Are you using an up-to-date web browser? Generally speaking, it's best to use either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox when navigating around the Canvas environment. You can check What are the browser and computer requirements for Instructure products? to see if your browser meets the requirements.
Also, you might want to try clearing your web browser's history/cache. I recommend closing the browser after you do this, and then re-launch the browser to see if anything has changed in Canvas...hopefully for the better.
